A Purifying Fire

Currently studying fire in the Bible 📜

I painted a Sulphur butterfly and only after did I learn of its name and mineral properties. Purification- a perfect inspiration to describe my current art theme.

A few days ago I was setting up my bookshelf and opened this beautiful book to a page describing the first "containment” of fire - a match. This was created with sticks covered in sulphur and other chemicals by John Walker in October 1829. Next read a description of God as a fire in the bible. Now, fire may be normally associated with hell- but what if this is just another example of God’s wrath (perhaps "contained" in whatever sense of the word it maybe). People more familiar with Satan know that he is physically associated with the cold, as his presence in another's body.

Some of my reading from this morning... Online Excerpt:

"The Bible describes God as “a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29), so it is not surprising that fire often appears as a symbol of God’s presence. Examples include the burning bush (Exodus 3:2), the Shekinah glory (Exodus 14:19;Numbers 9:15-16), and Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 1:4). Fire has many times been an instrument of God’s judgment (Numbers 11:1,3;2 Kings 1:10,12) and a sign of His power (Judges 13:20;1 Kings 18:38)."
